Why This Race

The organizer pitch, translated for runners

Join JLI for our 2026 100-Mile Walk, Launching in March 2026.   This Year’s Cause: Joint Learning Initiative on Faith in Local Communities    This year, JLI is walking to raise awareness and funds to end hunger, poverty and injustice through the support of the Joint Learning Initiative for Faith and Local Communities. JLI is a leading global provider of research, evidence, learning and capacity sharing that strengthens practical religious engagement strategies for faith and development actors both locally and globally. We strive to bring organizations together to advance evidence, policy, and practice on the role of faith in humanitarian and development work.  At JLI, we understand the value of human connection and communication in how we share resources, create learning and educational hubs, and create avenues for all human flourishing. This isn’t about favors or charity–it’s about restoring balance. About fairness, where people aren't punished for where they started. About equity, which means meeting people where they are–not where we wish they’d be. And shared opportunity–the kind that lifts all of us, not just a few. Your support will:  Open doors for leaders who otherwise couldn’t participate by breaking down barriers that span across language, access, and resources. We develop evidence literacy and make research more accessible to those often excluded by academic privilege.Strengthen mutual learning across regions and traditions, where we know that learning flows in all directions and across the axis of research and practice. JLI is key in highlighting often overlooked contributions of faith to development goals.Build connections that bridge divides and create fair and equitable learning hubs in an inclusive global community, with JLI sustaining resilience even as institutions falter, ensuring research is accessible across languages and formats. How You Can Join  Capture your walk and share it with us using #hunger100 and don’t forget to tag us on Instagram or Facebook @100milewalk so we can celebrate your journey together. Thank you for sharing the message and contributing to the work of JLI. Together, we can take steps—literally and figuratively—toward a more fair, equitable, and connected world. Join me, walk with me, and help build bridges that last.
