Why This Race

The organizer pitch, translated for runners

Join us this year for the 19th annual Movin' for Community Outreach 5K to benefit Tarboro Community Outreach! We hope you will join us in person on March 28th or virtually on your own time to keep our tradition of running, walking, and supporting TCO for another year. We will also again have 10k Fun Ride for cyclists who wish to participate in this annual fundraiser.    Thank you for your continued support of the race and TCO, and we look forward to seeing you soon! Registration: Register for either run in-person or virtually before March 1st for $25 plus fees. Registration on or after March 1st, including race-day registration, will be $30 plus fees. Please register as early as possible to guarantee we will have a race t-shirt for you on race day. We will order these shirts in advance and try to estimate the number and sizes of shirts so that everyone participating will receive a shirt, but to be safe, please register by March 19. Shirts are only guaranteed to registrants registered by March 11th.  Race-Day Registration: Race-day registration will be done by the participants themselves online via RunSignup. We will have extra bibs so participants can be assigned bib numbers and checked in same-day, but we encourage participants to pre-register to limit any confusion or time delays on race day. Thank you in advance!   Virtual Racing: If you ran or walked with us in the past few years, you will remember the virtual Movin' for Community Outreach 5K. We'd love to see you in person running and walking again this year, but we will still have a virtual option if you would instead participate remotely. We understand individual preferences are different, and we will enjoy and be thankful for your participation either way! During registration, you may select to run or walk the race virtually. You may participate virtually anytime between March 28th and April 4th. Unfortunately, if you experience it virtually, your times will not be included in the in-person race results. However, as always, we encourage you to post your race time and any race photos on the race's Facebook page HERE. Virtual race participants will also receive a race t-shirt. If you are local, you can pick up your virtual race packet during pre-race packet pickup on Friday, April 4th. If you live out of town, we will gladly mail your race t-shirt to you, and you will see an option for that during the registration process. Race Packet Pickup: Optional pre-race packet pickup will be Friday, March 27th, 2026, from 5:30 to 7:00 in the fellowship hall parking lot of Howard Memorial Presbyterian at 303 E. St. James Street in Tarboro, NC. Race packets will also be available for pickup on race day. Awards:  Awards will be given to the top 3 men and women as well as the top 3 men and women in the following age groups:  1-9, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+. Plans for award presentations will be made closer to race day. *Please note that since the Cycling 10k Fun Ride is an untimed event there are no awards.
