The Gibraltar Marathon runs around the entire 6.8km² British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar — the legendary Rock of Gibraltar (ancient Pillar of Hercules) at the entrance where the Atlantic meets the Mediterranean. The unique multi-loop course weaves through Gibraltar's Main Street (entirely pedestrianised), past the famous Barbary macaque monkeys on the Upper Rock Nature Reserve, along the marina with Morocco visible across the Strait, through the Great Siege Tunnels, and along Ocean Village.
