About This Race
Grandma's Marathon celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2026, making it one of the most anticipated running events of the year. First held in 1977 with just 160 runners, the race was named after Grandma's Saloon & Deli, the only local business willing to sponsor the fledgling event with $600. The scenic point-to-point course runs along the North Shore of Lake Superior from Two Harbors to Duluth's Canal Park. The weekend also features the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon and the William A. Irvin 5K.
