About This Race
Athens Marathon: The Authentic traces the legendary route from the ancient battlefield of Marathon to the Panathenaic Stadium in Athens, where the first modern Olympic Games were held in 1896. This is the original marathon course, steeped in over 2,500 years of history. The challenging point-to-point route includes a significant uphill section before a dramatic downhill finish into the marble stadium. The event also features 5K and 10K races.
