About This Race
The Charlottesville Marathon runs through Jefferson country — Thomas Jefferson's home of Monticello sits on the mountain above, and his University of Virginia (with its UNESCO Rotunda masterpiece) frames one side of town. The rolling course winds through UVA's historic grounds, along the Rivanna River trail, through Crozet's Blue Ridge foothills vineyards, and through Charlottesville's beloved pedestrian mall with spring flowering trees. Virginia wine country at every turn.
