About This Race
The Flagstaff Marathon runs through Arizona's highest and coolest city — Flagstaff sits at 7,000 feet in an enormous ponderosa pine forest on the Colorado Plateau, a world away from the desert heat below. The course winds through Flagstaff's historic Route 66 downtown, through the Coconino National Forest ponderosa pines, around the volcanic San Francisco Peaks (Arizona's highest mountains at 3,851m), and along the Arizona Trail with views across the Grand Canyon plateau.
