About This Race
The Gettysburg North South Marathon runs through the most hallowed battlefield in American history — the fields, ridges, and woodlands where the pivotal 3-day Civil War Battle of Gettysburg (July 1-3, 1863) was fought, and where Lincoln delivered the Gettysburg Address. The rolling course winds past Pickett's Charge field, across Cemetery Ridge, through Little Round Top, and past the thousands of granite monuments and cannons that mark the positions where 51,000 men fell.
