About This Race
The Montevideo Marathon runs along the most beautiful urban seafront in South America — the Rambla, a 22km unbroken riverside promenade along the Río de la Plata estuary (the widest river mouth on Earth — so wide the opposite bank of Argentina is over the horizon). Uruguay is repeatedly rated the most livable, freest, and least corrupt country in Latin America and the world's top pot-legalizing, secular, and LGBTQ-welcoming nation. The flat course runs past Art Deco gems, sandy beaches, fishing piers, and the old Ciudad Vieja colonial quarter.
