About This Race
The Quito Marathon runs through the literal Middle of the World — Quito sits on the equator (0°0'0") and the course passes through the Mitad del Mundo monument where runners can straddle both hemispheres simultaneously. Quito is also South America's best-preserved colonial city centre (UNESCO World Heritage) and the world's second-highest capital city at 2,850m. The course winds through the magnificent 16th-century historic centre, beneath the winged angel on El Panecillo hill, and among the Andean volcanoes.
