About This Race
The 49th running of the Allianz Richmond Marathon is known as America's Friendliest Marathon and is consistently ranked as a Top 25 Boston Marathon qualifying race. Produced by Sports Backers, the USATF-certified road course features rolling hills through historic Richmond neighborhoods. The event includes the CarMax Richmond Half Marathon and Richmond 8K, with all three distances selling out in recent years. The inaugural marathon in 1978 saw 1,183 runners, and the race has grown into one of the most respected fall marathons on the East Coast.
