About This Race
The UW Medicine Seattle Marathon is one of the Pacific Northwest's most storied running events, tracing its roots back to 1970 when 38 runners from the University of Washington organized the inaugural race. Today, the USATF-certified course takes thousands of participants through Seattle's urban landscape, including waterfront vistas, lush parks, and the vibrant downtown area. The event serves as a Boston Marathon and World Marathon Majors qualifier. The race weekend also features a Health and Fitness Expo and the Seattle Kids Marathon.
