About This Race
The Split Marathon runs through one of the world's most unique urban environments — a modern city built inside and around the 1,700-year-old UNESCO Diocletian's Palace, constructed by Roman Emperor Diocletian as his retirement villa. The course winds through the palace's ancient stone corridors (now shopping streets and restaurants), past the Peristil ceremonial square, along the famous Riva promenade on the Adriatic, and through Split's Dalmatian hinterland hills.
