About This Race
The Chickamauga Battlefield Marathon runs through the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park — the site of the bloodiest two-day battle of the Civil War (September 1863, 34,000 casualties in 2 days). The flat, shaded course loops through the battlefield's dense old-growth forest, past hundreds of iron cannons and regimental monuments, through predawn mists that give the landscape an eerie, haunting beauty. One of America's most distinctive and atmospheric marathon experiences.
