About This Race
The La Paz International Marathon is the world's highest-altitude city marathon — run at 3,600 metres above sea level in Bolivia's spectacularly situated seat of government. La Paz sits in a dramatic bowl surrounded by the snowy Illimani volcano (6,438m) and the Andes altiplano. The challenging course winds through the colourful, chaotic city streets past the witches' market, through the Sopocachi arts district, and along the Choqueyapu River canyon.
