About This Race
The Mount Desert Island Marathon is an award-winning destination race set in Acadia National Park during peak fall foliage. Recognized by Runner's World as the most scenic marathon in America, the USATF-certified course starts in Bar Harbor, traverses pristine terrain across Mount Desert Island past lakes, mountains, and Somes Sound (the Eastern Seaboard's only fjord), and finishes in Southwest Harbor. The half marathon starts in Northeast Harbor.
