About this race
The Almaty Marathon runs through Kazakhstan's largest city and cultural capital — a modern Central Asian metropolis nestled at 900m elevation at the foot of the spectacular Zailiysky Alatau range of the Tian Shan Mountains. The snow-capped peaks rising to 4,000m provide a dramatic backdrop for the entire race. The course winds through Almaty's wide Soviet-era boulevards, through the leafy Panfilov Park, and past the colourful Zenkov Cathedral.
