About This Race
The Kentucky Derby Festival Marathon is part of Louisville's legendary two-week party that builds to the Kentucky Derby — the Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports. The flat BQ course runs along the Ohio River waterfront, past Churchill Downs' twin spires (the iconic racetrack where the Derby has run since 1875), through the Louisville Slugger Museum (where nearly every Major League baseball bat is made), past the Louisville Muhammad Ali Center, and through the historic Butchertown and NuLu arts neighbourhood.
