About This Race
The Knoxville Marathon runs through Tennessee's eastern gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains — the most-visited national park in the US. The course winds through the University of Tennessee's sprawling campus (the Volunteers' Big Orange country), along the Tennessee River with the Smoky Mountains haze on the horizon, through Market Square's vibrant restaurant district, past the Sunsphere from the 1982 World's Fair, and through the revitalised Old City neighbourhood.
