About This Race
The Kona Marathon runs from Ali'i Drive — the famous lava-field road of the IRONMAN World Championship — through the Big Island's otherworldly landscapes. The course runs past centuries-old lava flows from Mauna Loa and Kilauea, through coffee and macadamia nut orchards of the Kona countryside, with Mauna Kea (the world's tallest mountain from base to summit, taller than Everest if measured from the ocean floor) gleaming with telescopes above.
