About This Race
The Naha Marathon runs through Okinawa — Japan's subtropical southern island chain with a distinct identity rooted in the ancient Ryukyu Kingdom. The flat, fast course winds past the UNESCO Shuri Castle (former Ryukyu royal palace), through Kokusai-dori's vibrant shopping street, along the Naha waterfront with coral sea views, and through the island's traditional Shisa-guarded villages. One of Japan's biggest marathons (30,000 runners) with legendary crowd hospitality and awamori sake at aid stations.
