About This Race
The Paphos Marathon runs through the birthplace of Aphrodite — a UNESCO World Heritage city of astonishing Roman mosaic floors (the finest in the Eastern Mediterranean), Greek, Roman, Byzantine, Crusader, and Ottoman layers of civilisation in one town. The coastal course passes the clifftop Tombs of the Kings necropolis, the legendary Aphrodite's Rock (Petra tou Romiou) where mythology says the goddess of love rose from the sea, and Paphos's crusader harbour castle.
