About This Race
The Richmond Marathon is beloved as "America's Friendliest Marathon" — a hilly BQ course through Virginia's capital and former Confederate capital, known for its extraordinary volunteer culture and crowd support. The course winds through the historic Fan District's Victorian row houses, along Monument Avenue (recently updated Civil War monuments), past the Edgar Allan Poe Museum, through Church Hill, over the James River, and up the final Belvidere Hill.
