About This Race
The Red Stag Rotorua Marathon is New Zealand's oldest and most iconic marathon, first held in 1965. The course starts and finishes beside the Novotel Rotorua Lakeside, running through the Whakarewarewa Forest (Redwoods), along the shores of the beautiful Lake Rotorua, and through the geothermal wonderland of this volcanic region. The Redwoods section provides a unique running experience through towering California Redwood trees. The event offers a full marathon, half marathon, 10km, and 5km fun run, with Athletics NZ member discounts available.
