About This Race
The Gazley Volkswagen Wellington Marathon is Wellington's favourite footrace, now in its 39th year. The course runs through New Zealand's compact and vibrant capital city, along the spectacular harbor waterfront, through Oriental Bay, past historic Te Papa museum, and along the scenic south coast. In 2026, the full marathon doubles as the official Wellington Championship. The event also features a half marathon, 10km fun run, and Kids Magic Mile. The compact city setting means excellent crowd support throughout the course.
