About This Race
The Akron Marathon runs through the Rubber City — Akron's nickname from its 20th-century dominance of global tire manufacturing (Goodyear and Firestone were both founded here). The BQ course winds into the beautiful Cuyahoga Valley National Park along the historic Ohio & Erie Canal towpath, through Cuyahoga Falls' cascading gorge, and back through Akron's revitalized downtown arts district with its restored 1920s theatres.
