About This Race
Born in 1972 when thirty runners completed the inaugural race through Humboldt Redwoods State Park, the Avenue of the Giants Marathon has earned a reputation as one of the most beautiful marathons in the world. The double out-and-back course winds through towering ancient coast redwood groves on paved road. Now in its 54th year, this independently organized, non-corporate race remains true to its grassroots origins with the Six Rivers Running Club.
