About This Race
The IMT Des Moines Marathon is Iowa's premier fall running event, drawing thousands of runners to the state capital each October since 2002. The flat, fast, spectator-friendly courses wind through downtown Des Moines, Drake Stadium, leafy suburbs, Valley Junction, forested bike paths, and around Gray's Lake before heading back downtown. All distances are Boston-qualifying certified courses. Race weekend includes a full marathon, half marathon, Bankers Trust marathon relay, 5K, and a free Kids Run. The Health and Fitness Expo at Cowles Commons provides packet pickup and running vendors on Friday and Saturday before race day.
