About This Race
The Juneau Marathon runs through America's most unusual capital city — Juneau can only be reached by air or sea (no roads connect it to the rest of Alaska). The course winds past the spectacular Mendenhall Glacier's turquoise ice face (one of the world's most accessible glaciers), through the ancient Tongass National Forest (North America's largest temperate rainforest), along the Inside Passage fjord waterway lined with cruise ships, and past gold rush-era mine buildings clinging to the mountainsides.
