About This Race
The Sleeping Bear Marathon runs through the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore — voted "Most Beautiful Place in America" by Good Morning America viewers. The course winds through the national lakeshore's crystal-clear inland lakes, past the dramatic 400-foot sand dunes rising directly from Lake Michigan, through the cherry orchard country of the Leelanau Peninsula, and along bluff-top roads with endless Lake Michigan horizon views. Utterly spectacular.
