About This Race
The Valley of Fire Marathon runs through Nevada's oldest and largest state park — a breathtaking moonscape of blazing Aztec sandstone formations that glow fire-red at dawn, used as filming location for Star Trek: Generations and Total Recall. The course winds through the park's alien rock formations — Elephant Rock, the Seven Sisters, the Fire Wave — beside ancient Anasazi petroglyphs (rock carvings 3,000 years old), with Lake Mead visible on the horizon.
